How to read a quote
Per lb / per kg
Derived from the per-metric-ton contract rate (1 MT = 2,204.62 lb = 1,000 kg) for small parcels and airfreighted lots.
Per container
20ft and 40ft rates are all-in ocean freight for a full container load; heavy ore lots normally cube out in a 20ft.
Bulk stem
Charter and COA rates per metric ton on a full Handysize or Supramax parcel, FOB load port.
Fuel adjustment
Each contract carries a bunker or jet-fuel share; that share is re-indexed daily to Brent against the negotiated baseline.
Surcharges
Terminal handling, valuables escort, insurance and inland haulage are quoted separately on the final booking note.
